The City of Mandurah’s annual Stretch Arts Festival will skyrocket with the opening of the colourful Common Threads Wearable Art Showcase.
Mandurah City Mayor Marina Vergone said the competition had received a record number of entrants from all over Australia.
“We invite you to join us at this extraordinary, vibrant event and encourage you to immerse yourself in this fantastic arts festival,” she said.
“The showcase will be a stunning event, led by Melbourne creative director Helen Duncan.”
A City spokeswoman said the “stunningly creative” Drift-themed collection would be presented at the Mandurah Performing Arts centre on Sunday, where the winners would be announced throughout.
“From discreet couture to jawdropping apparitions, the finalist garments from the 2014 Common Threads Wearable Art and Body Art competition will be brought to life,” she said.
“Now in its fourth year, the competition gives designers the opportunity to challenge concepts of what is wearable across a number of categories.”
The “visual feast” will feature movement, music and lighting designed to entertain the family.
Performance Date Saturday 3rd May, 4pm.
Performance running time: 1hour (Including awards presentation)
